Rated by Midwest Living in 2014 as a resort “we love,” the Eagle Ridge Resort and Spa is set in a wooded, tranquil setting in northern Illinois. Comprised of 6,800 acres, the Galena lodgings combine rusticity, sophistication and charm in one luxurious package. Five of the reasons to visit the spa are summarized in the headings below.

1.            Elegant Rustic Rooms and Fun-filled Activities

Eighty rustic-elegant rooms are featured at the resort as well as approximately 200 villas and homes. Nights and days can be filled with such pursuits as swimming, biking, hiking, and golf.

2.            Championship Golf, Swimming and Fishing

In fact, the resort is not only home to 63 holes of golf and an indoor swimming pool, it also offers 23 miles of biking and hiking paths. Resort guests can also kayak on Lake Galena or take part in a pontoon cruise. Fishermen like fishing in the lake as it is home to such fish as bluegill, catfish, largemouth bass, small mouth bass, walleye, and muskie. Play a game of tennis or volley ball as well.

3.            Horseback Riding and Wintertime Sports Activities

If you are an equestrian, then you will want to visit the Shenandoah Riding Center. Should you visit the resort in winter, then you can occupy your leisure hours with such sports as skiing, skating or sledding. Couples like taking the one-hour balloon rides that are offered at the resort.

4.            Relaxing Accommodations

Once you’ve had your fill of activities, you will want to take advantage of your relaxing accommodations. The Main Lodge at the resort and spa provides guest accommodations and suites that feature two queen beds or one king-sized bed. Jetted tubs are included in the package. All the rooms are sized to hold two guests.

5.            Home-inspired Amenities

A flat 37-inch flat screen TV and Pacific Coast down pillows are highlighted in each room. A Simmons Beautyrest mattress also adds to the comfort. In-room dining is offered to couples who have escaped to the resort for a romantic getaway.
